Similar to and created to work with our onsite Jr Programming course, Mini Coder is a programming course at an introductory level, which will walk students through the fundamental steps essential in programming. They will learn essential terminology, logic, and skills as they complete multiple tasks with varying problem-solving challenges. Students that complete this course will have a basic understanding of the mechanics of programming, problem-solving and attention to detail while creating games, media, and other projects.
This 13-week, instructor-led, online course can be used in whole or in part. It is written as a stand-alone course and can be used as a supplement to your current STEM classes or as an after-school course or summer learning opportunity.
Your purchase gains you online access to everything you need for your chosen course. Each course package comes with a teacher guide (which includes best practices and steps for online teaching), step-by-step lesson plans, worksheets, software downloads, and programming resources. Lesson plans and teacher’s guide can be easily downloaded or printed for use depending on the instructor’s preference.
*The subscription to the license for this course is limited to the students and teachers within your school (or district if district license purchase) and can only be utilized on the assigned campus during your subscription period There is no limit to the number of students or teachers that can utilize the course during the subscription period. Brainy Bytes curriculum follows the newest generation of ISTE, (International Society for Technology and Education), standards for students (2016). Each of our curricula will expose students to technology and at least one other curriculum topic area (i.e., Science, Language Arts).
The following ISTE standards can be found throughout Brainy Bytes curriculum:
1C - Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.

Technology Requirements (for teacher and participants)
Mini Coder uses Scratch Jr.: Which is a Tablet-based program. The install instructions are provided in your teacher guide. Because it is tablet-based, we recommend instructors use software (such as BlueStacks) that will run Scratch Jr on a PC...allowing for easier demonstration.
Online Classroom Platform: You will need to utilize an online classroom platform to teach this course.
