Comic Book Creation Online

Use your imagination to create comic books with story visualizer software. Participants will learn editing and storytelling skills in this combined-learning online course (instructor-led and self-directed) as they use their own manipulatives (think LEGOs, stuffies, transformers…you name it) to capture and tell their story.
It’s not just about STEM. This cross-curricula course focuses on key points for storytelling such as character building, plot, theme and the steps of story building (beginning, middle, end; and for the older students conflict/resolution) making it a perfect tool for Language Arts supplementation.

Teach your students how to make their own comic book while introducing/reinforcing essential Language Arts and STEM skills! Focusing on story building fundamentals (character building, plot concepts, and more) and using cameras, comic book visualizer software, and their choice of manipulatives (Lego’s, stuffed animals, toy dinosaurs…etc) they will create multiple themed comic books that can be printed at home to share.
This 14-week, instructor-led, online course can be used in whole or in part. It is written as a stand-alone course and can be used as a supplement to your current STEM classes or as an after-school course or summer learning opportunity.
Your purchase gains you online access to everything you need for your chosen course. Each course package comes with a teacher guide (which includes best practices and steps for online teaching), step-by-step lesson plans, worksheets, software downloads, and programming resources. Lesson plans and teacher’s guide can be easily downloaded or printed for use depending on the instructor’s preference.
*The subscription to the license for this course is limited to the students and teachers within your school (or district if district license purchase) and can only be utilized on the assigned campus during your subscription period There is no limit to the number of students or teachers that can utilize the course during the subscription period. Brainy Bytes curriculum follows the newest generation of ISTE, (International Society for Technology and Education), standards for students (2016). Each of our curricula will expose students to technology and at least one other curriculum topic area (i.e., Science, Language Arts).
The following ISTE standards can be found throughout Brainy Bytes curriculum:

Technology Requirements (for teacher and participants)
Mini Coder uses Story Visualizer: Which is a Tablet-based program. The install instructions are provided in your teacher guide. Because it is tablet-based, we recommend instructors use software (such as BlueStacks) that will run Scratch Jr on a PC…allowing for easier demonstration.
Online Classroom Platform: You will need to utilize an online classroom platform to teach this course.
